Golf Lessons

I began golfing in the mid 80's while working for the Post Office. My view about golf before then was "who in their right mind can hit this little ball and then chase after it and hit it again". Well my mind was changed quickly as I found that it brought fun and relaxation to my life.

As the years went on I set up and ran a golf league for 13 years as President and Secretary (at the same time). There I had to deal with not only weekly match up of players, but I also had to deal with the vast amount rules that go along with the game of golf. Running a golf league also had me learning how to set up players by averages and also by approved handicaps. After that time of running a league I wanted to get involved in other golfing venues. I joined The Amateur Tour of America that operated in the Detroit area and stayed active playing for about 3 or 4 years.

Then in 2007 I attended the golf school - United States Golf Teachers Federation and became a Level 2 Golf Instructor.

Since 2007 I have had many students ranging in ages from 10 to 69. My most resent student is on the Garden City High school golf team. He has improved a great deal since taking lessons with me and will be one of my students again this fall.

With Respect and Help

We all agree, having a little golf ball next to the pin is beautiful.

One thing I can honestly say about Ross is he actually knows what he is talking about. He understands the golf swing and truly cares about the results you have out on the course after his instruction. His message is simple, and genuine. By taking lessons with Ross, he has improved my game and made golf fun for me. I would recommend Ross Smith as a golf instructor for anyone, who wants to improve his or her game at any age, young or old. I was 14 when he started instructing me and I feel it has made a difference and I look forward to working with him in the future. Thank you Mr. Smith!  - JC Swezene (Age 15)
